The Walk Along the Canal

Join us once again, in solidarity against the proposed PennEast Pipeline and the destruction to the Delaware River at a new spectacular location, this time in Pennsylvania. Invite your friends, family and neighbors so we can double the numbers from last years “March Across the River a Rally to Stop PennEast.”

We will be walking along the beautiful Delaware River canal towpath in Riegelsville, PA. See the actual spot where PennEast wants to burrow under our historic canal and Delaware River. This historic area near Durham Furnace by Riegelsville was a part of the Revolutionary War. George Washington requisitioned boats for the famous crossing of the Delaware.

The Lenape Nation will be joining us, in our love for this area and the Delaware River, and will be doing a special blessing and drum circle. There is an impressive list of Speakers for our destination point of the Riegelsville Borough Park. Food will be available for purchase and provided by The Riegelsville Tavern and Mueller’s. We will be selling stainless steel water bottles that can be filled at the park with water provided by Riegelsville Borough. If you are feeling groovy, and want to HALT PennEast, purchase a tie-dyed bandana – both with “The Walk Along the Canal” logo and date of this event.

Speakers to include:
Vince DiBianca – HALT PennEast
Maya van Rossum – Delaware Riverkeeper Network
Jeff Tittel – NJ Sierra Club
Susan Meacham – Holland Twp CCAP & HALT PennEast
Michael Brogan – Rider University
Kaia Elinich – Bucks County CCAP & Earth Guardians
Caroline Katmann – Sourland Conservancy
Mike Spille – The Cost of the Pipeline and HALT PennEast
Tara Zrinski – LV Food and Water Watch & PA
Linda Christman – Save Carbon County
David Pringle – Clean Water Action NJ
Doug O’Malley – Environment NJ

This is a peaceful celebration of community and what better way than to do it with friends, family and neighbors who are committed to a common goal of halting PennEast’s pipe dream.

Meet us at Riegelsville Borough Park where a shuttle will transport you to our beginning point. Our walk will end where we parked our cars to catch the shuttle – at the Borough Park.
